Welcome to my world of Small Ideas!

I have always been a crafty person and have pretty much had a go at everything. I always had a love for Dolls Houses and their small world.
With two grown daughter's and no longer working, I now have the time to commit to my favourite past-time - making and creating Dolls Houses and Room Boxes.
I get totally absorbed in my small world creating tiny objects for the rooms. I am often told I am not on this planet when I am thinking of creating something new! I hope you enjoy my Blog as much as I will enjoy sharing my Small Ideas with you...

Monday Mini Link Party #36

Hello! I spent a whole day on making my brother-in-laws Christmas Gift...He built a mud brick Adobe/Wine cellar into the side of a small hill in his garden. His wife (PP's sister) asked me to make a replica of it for him.

1. The Original Picture. 2. Front View of replica. 3. Another Angle. 4. There is gravel in the wall nook covered with wire mesh and a cavity below for cut firewood. 5. View looking up to ceiling. 6. Another nook, this one with green wine bottles cemented in with mesh covering.

How did I? 6 months of thinking! I carved the basic shape of the Adobe out of high density foam with an electric knife. I then used some textured cardboard in a sand colour to cover the walls, carefully shaping the nooks, window and doorway.
I made the door from icy pole sticks and the shutters and shelves from balsa wood scraps. The handle and hinges on the door are jewellery findings painted black.
The wall nook in picture 4 has small gravel behind the wire mesh. The wall nook on the other side (picture 6) has green, glass beads to represent wine bottle ends.
The roof is corrugated cardboard painted silver. I then found assorted branches from our garden (reasonably straight) to make the beams. PP kindly cut up all the little firewood logs.
I made the table from a laser cut piece painted green. It sits atop the faithful old pizza box legs. I picked up the Coleman lantern keyring at a market. I know it's a bit out of scale, but it suits the setting I think. When lit it has a soft red glow.
Time it took: 8 hours! Outcome: A UFO completed!

On with the Partyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!

Jazzi's Mini Link Party is to increase awareness of Miniaturists talents and craft work. Many of us are trying to make a living out of our love for miniatures and a helping hand in marketing our crafts is always a bonus. It commences every Monday Morning (Australian Eastern Standard Time) and closes at Midnight the following Friday (USA Time). So, what is a Link Party? It is a great way to show-off your work, drive more followers to your blog or website, promote a giveaway or your Etsy shop.

How do you join in this link party?

  1. You must be a miniaturist (all scales welcome)
  2. Upload a picture of your own work below. Add a caption and the url (website address it will link to).
  3. Copy and paste the Jazzi Mini Link Party to your blog sidebar to let followers know you have joined in. (Don't forget to copy the url from the address bar to link back to this page).
Every weekend I feature a weekly roundup of the Mini Link Party and select a link as a guest spot on my page. There is now a tool to add your link every week automatically. Just email me to let me know you want this activated. Welcome to new links and of course welcome back regular links!

  2. Lovely wine cellar porch. Don't you just love the way mini scenes come together. Lots of work on details and then, suddenly enough of them in place to make a little world.
