Welcome to my world of Small Ideas!

I have always been a crafty person and have pretty much had a go at everything. I always had a love for Dolls Houses and their small world.
With two grown daughter's and no longer working, I now have the time to commit to my favourite past-time - making and creating Dolls Houses and Room Boxes.
I get totally absorbed in my small world creating tiny objects for the rooms. I am often told I am not on this planet when I am thinking of creating something new! I hope you enjoy my Blog as much as I will enjoy sharing my Small Ideas with you...

Living in the Country

For Sale - 1 room, gorgeous little bush shack! PP and I finished this project yesterday and had a great time taking photo's using our own bush setting.
The cabin is made from 6mm mdf covered with corrugated cardboard stained and painted to reflect logs and a tin roof. The windows and doors are made from icy pole sticks. The curtains are from a doily and there is clear acetate on the windows. The verandah posts are gum tree branches as are the freshly cut logs out the front and inside. The barrel is made from an old wooden door handle cut to size and trimmed with black leather thonging.
Inside we have papered it with old newspaper print from Sheree's Printies. Most of the pictures came from her site also as did the rug printie. The old family photo's, matches and stack of books are from a $1 grab bag from Miniature Designs. The stone print for the chimney and end wall are from CG Textures. I smudged the stone with dark grey eyeshadow to give it a smokey look. The candlesticks are 2 bead caps and a bugle bead for the candle. Lying on the mantlepiece is a gumnut. The wood box is made from string wrapped around a cardboard box and stained with wood stain. The brass lamp is also made from jewellry findings.
This was a fun project to do with both of us working on it. I was amused to see PP sitting at my work desk when I got up yesterday, patiently gluing all the logs together. Then he tells me to "backaway from the table"!
I have included here a photo of our country cottage we live in so you can see where our inspiration came from. Onto the next project now while PP is still in the mood!
Cheers, Jazzi
P.S. Forget to mention the shack is 1:24 scale!

  8. Oh, I love it and your real country cottage looks wonderful, too.

I have to admit the only Australia I know, I know from the movies (yeh, Crocodile Dundee was one!) so it is so nice to meet someone from the "real" Australia.

And I, too, like tutorials and explanations of how-to-do things.

    Cheers,
    Iris
